I was born in northern New Jersey and lived and worked for quite some time in New York City. Now living in southern California. I am now semi-retired; but was a practicing attorney and then changed careers in the 1980s, earning a doctorate in psychology and practicing as a psychotherapist and psychiatric social worker. I've had a life-long interest in religion and spirituality and studied and practiced various Indian spiritual systems over the years. Also studied and practiced Zen and Tibetan Buddhism- and various other systems, including the Sufis and have been affiliated with the Kwajaghan Sufi Tradition. I studied various branches of yoga ; and in 2000 was ordained in the Kriya Tradition of the Giri Order, taking the name Advayananda. Currently working in pastoral counseling, life coaching and meditation instruction.
